CLAUDE MARIUS PRIBILOIS
In 2007 my father Claude Marius Pribilois discovered to have the Hodgins cancer cells in the spine.
As he couldn't walk and was half paralyzed from hips to feet, he had to make a surgery which took about 5 hours work.
After one month of hospital we returned back home but the doctors said that there were very little chances to get back on his feet again, he was condemned to use the wheelchair.
Of course that was a shock for me, so I decided to apply to my Dad a special and constant therapy of rehabilitation.
Teaching to professional dancers its something but teaching, explaining and helping a ill and elder person is totally different and challenging.
The first 4 months while he was staying in bed and moving only to do the important things in the bathroom that meant I had to lift him until there several times a day.
But his slow training started while he was in bed, I was lifting his legs one at the time or the two together, slowly and gently considering his age and this therapy help the blood circulation to flow better.
in ballet we call this slow movement: Fondus with Circular Rond de Jambes and or little Developés.
Even though he wasn't able to even sit on bed or try to stand up. his legs were not strong enough.
And loosing his balance would have meant a fracture in the spine.
The therapy was applied 20 minutes in the morning, and 10 minutes in the afternoon.
After 6 months one day, I explained to him and show him how to stand up or sit in bed with the help of his arms.
When he saw that his body was responding he gained confidence more and more and his smile was like the first dawn winter sunshine.
Finally one day he stood up holding the wheelchair, that was a victory for him and the most beautiful gift for me.
Finally, after one year the surgeon and doctors wanted to visit him again to undertake medical checkup they saw my father walking and standing on his feet even though holding the wheelchair.
Hospital staff was surprised, doctors as well they all said it was a miracle.
Due to my father illness I was from one hand sad to abandon the world of ballet as due to this special life experience and situation, but I had to constantly refuse dance work teaching offers, with great regret.
I had no other choice to choose: Priority my Father or priority to my Dance Career? So I decided to opt in helping and dedicating my entire soul to my Dad.
But from the other hand I took that as a life teaching University class for me, the best, the hardest.
My father beside his great illness which stood a full decade, he was always with a great sense of humor, always laughing, always smiling.
After his death in October 2016 I then dedicated myself in implementing and working on the Postural Gym healing program, applying the criteria tat I applied to my Father rehabilitation.
Which now I apply to myself, but also to other dancers whenever I give class as guest teacher.
Thank you dear Dad, your tears have taught me so much and you have given me the great value of what means surviving, and fight for life.
