Wrote a beautiful comment after her Postural Gym class on Instagram and Facebook:
I am not very good at slowing down, and I think slowing down is devilishly hard when you have an overfull agenda and to-do list. And also, part of me doesn’t like slowing down because I have a lot of physical energy. I often find I need to do a lot of physical exercise to get my mind to slow down so I can concentrate.
It was therefore a fun surprise to try “postural gym”, a blend of ballet-like exercises, floorbarre, stretching, and yoga with Mr. Jean Pierre Pribilois, who runs the Ballet International webpage and Facebook group
(see also @balletinternational1).
The slow work in the class made my mind very calm, but the intensity of the exercises still gave an outlet for my physical energy. Here is a small excerpt from the class.
You can see the full video when you search for the Ballet International channel on YouTube.
Moving slowly and deliberately is not only an exercise of the body, but also an exercise of awareness, trying to be aware of every small part of your body, and making sure it is moving correctly.
Of course, it is never possible to move completely correctly, but the fun is in the striving.
In this way ballet exercises, and also floorbarre exercises, are the same every day, but also completely different. It is the same thing as the breath for a meditator of concentration meditation: also the same every day, but nevertheless a new journey with many different experiences.
